New Century Homes - I SUBMITTED COMMENTS IN THE EARLY PART OF 2007, AT THE TIME THE BUILDING OF MY 2 STOREY STONE VILLA WAS IN THE VERY EARLY BUILD STAGE ... FOUNDATIONS ONLY!!!
WELL 9 MONTHS LATER I AM LEFT WITH THE MOST GORGEOUS STONE PROPERTY I HAVE SET MY EYES ON (BUT THEN I WOULD BE BIASED I GUESS)!! THE OVERALL BUILD QUALITY WAS SUPERB WITH ATTENTION TO DETAIL EXCEPTIONAL...I HAVE LEARNT A LOT IN THE LAST YEAR...IF YOU DON'T ASK YOU DON'T GET! GREEK BUILDERS, IN MY OPINION ARE GOOD, BUT LIKE MANY OTHERS WHO BUILD HOUSE AFTER HOUSE..COMPLACENCY CREEPS IN..BUT IF YOU DECIDE ON SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT,THAT REQUIRES MORE SKILL THEN YOU ONLY HAVE TO ASK AND EXPLAIN...WITH A FEW PENCIL DRAWINGS AND ARM GESTURES!!! I ASKED FOR THINGS TO BE DONE AWAY FROM THE RUN OF THE MILL..AND I WAS GREETED WITH "YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT" BY THE COMPANY..THEY SAID EVERYONE ELSE WILL WANT THAT!! SURELY ISN'T THE WHOLE ETHOS OF BUILDING A HOUSE OF YOUR DREAMS...JUST THAT!!?? VERY GLAD I DID, I PAID THE EXTRA SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM!I
NOW HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, IN A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY THAT IS PERSONAL TO ME, AND I AM ALSO SO GLAD I STUCK MY NECK OUT! ALTHOUGH THE SALES PERSON WAS EXHAUSTED AT THE BUILD END!
IN HINDSIGHT, I WOULD RECOMMEND NCH TO ANYONE, BUT MAKE SURE YOU VISIT THE SITE VERY REGULARLY..EVEN CAMP ON-SITE IF NEEDS BE, THE VARIOUS TRADES DON'T COMMUNICATE THAT WELL SOMETIMES...AND BE PATIENT,THE BUILDERS DO CARE REALLY, ESPECIALLY IF THEY GET A BIT OF THANKS AND APPRECIATION OCCASIONALLY!

I have purchased 4 properties with this company in 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007. All excellent value for money holiday homes. I would buy again but would ensure that all electrical work is complete & connected before I settle the outstanding balance. If you decide to let, ensure that the pool is completed before you advertise! General Build quality on all of them is 8/10.

I would advise reading the small print carefully particularly regarding supply of central heating. I would also agree that you should use an independent lawyer (we didn't and we find their lawyer aggressive and arrogant) We have also found that final measurements differ a fair bit from the plans. Otherwise we are fairly happy with the house although we also have kept €1000 back.

SO FAR SO GOOD,NEW CENTURY FOUND ME A FANTASTIC PLOT..AND ARE AT PRESENT BUILDING ME A STONE ,2 STOREY HOUSE. INITIALLY I WENT ON AN INSPECTION TRIP WITH THEIR ENGLISH AGENT, WHO RECEIVES A WHOPPING 10% FEE FOR THE PRIVILEGE!! I HAVE BEEN KEPT UP TO DATE ON PROGRESS ON A WEEKLY BASIS,WTIH PICTURES AND INFORMATION, SO CANNOT RECOMMEND N.C HIGHLY ENOUGH .....AT THE MOMENT!! I HOPE THIS CONTINUES. AFTER SEEING THE PLOT FOR THE FIRST TIME, I WAS SOMEWHAT SCEPTICAL OF THE FINAL SEA VIEWS I WOULD EXPERIENCE...BUT AFTER SEEING THE LATEST BUILD PHOTOS...I AM MORE THAN CONVINCED! THOROUGHLY PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERT ADVICE FROM THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE.

Very disappointing quality - or do all local houses leak like sieves? I think they only build for summer living- Crete winters are cold and very wet. When I told the salesman who showed me round in November that I wasnt impressed by what I saw he actually recommended that I look at Euroland houses! He even gave me the name of someone to speak to! Full marks for honesty but not sure that they are any better!

Mixed feelings. My advice would be to be very cautious of any promises made by the sales reps; anything that they say in terms of what will be done and by when must be written down and dated, and get the bu**er to sign it. I have come across the phrase 'I didn't say that, did I?' on several occasions. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR SALES REP TO BE YOUR PROJECT MANAGER - get someone else to do it, employ them if need be, if you are not around. Go through the contract with a very fine tooth comb. I would strongly advise against taking the easy option of using the company recommended lawyers - be sensible, do a bit of research and find a lawyer who is not linked to New Century or Ideal Homes, that way they should be working in your interests. I didn't do that, I took the easy option, and feel a little agrieved over a few things. And be very aware of shared developments; although a development is marketed as fully or nearly fully sold - we've experienced several of the properties surrounding us as having buyers/investors drop out and hence landscaping and pools are then delayed...and delayed. Do not believe the statement - they won't or can't build there...bolx. That olive grove or that sea view can be built on for the right price. The house: generally good, a little damp initially, but then we pushed them to finish quickly. Central heating and air con all function well. Fittings and fixtures - generally okay. Snagging - I've ended up doing most of it myself, they will not get the final 1000euros. Attention to detail not particularly good. After sales service of sales reps and office staff is not good. Co-ordination between builders, plumber, electrician and other contractors on site is very very poor. Be around to insist on how you want things done. Despite all the above, the family owners of the company do show an interest in the clients and have been very supportive when events have required us to contact them. I cannot fault them on this. Given the choice again between a shared development and a single house - I would go for a single house. Note my comment about the last 1000 euros, it's not a very big bargaining chip once you have paid the rest of the money for the house. Several companies (including NCH) are now offering sales with initial 10% deposit up front and nothing more to pay until the buyer takes over the house - that certainly gives the buyer more say in what happens, when and how. Would I buy again with NCH - I don't honestly know.

Up until 18 months ago I would have agreed with the previous comments. Our house was finished on time, but to get anyone back to deal with a problem is a nightmare. I would say that the staff are very economical with the truth and I feel the standard of workmanship and customer service has let the company down - more in 2006 than previous years. Let's hope they turn it around in 2007!

House was finished on time to good standard in April this year. Still a couple of minor snags outstanding but nothing big. Our sales rep has been brilliant but I've heard from others that not all sales reps are as good. House was completely dry during the recent terrible weather. Would use NCH again.

A highly professional approach to honest marketing in recent issues of the Greece magazine is what first attracted us to New Century Homes and we are happy to say that this professionalism runs throughout the company. The attention to quality of build, efficiency and exemplary staff have made our dreams come true. We were spoilt for choice with the amount of properties they have available. Not only would I recommend them for quality and ease of sale but also for their friends and families scheme that rewards well. To quote their marketer "Our future is bright now that we have invested in blue and white". Many thanks. x
